GARDENS

Based in Berkeley, we design small-scale gardens throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Our work is rooted in place and meant to grow more beautiful with time.

We think of gardens as the threshold between home and the wider landscape. A place where the boundary between the two softens. They provide habitat not only for the people who tend them, but for birds, pollinators, insects, and the many organisms that keep soil alive. We consider every planting for its ecological role as much as its beauty.

Our work draws from California’s native plant communities and an old-world Mediterranean sensibility. Native trees mingle with fruit trees. Wildflowers move through woody herbs and ornamental grasses. Moss rock, weathered timber, and other natural materials help create spaces that feel settled into the landscape rather than imposed on it.

We like gardens that are dynamic, naturalistic, romantic, and quietly abundant. Places that invite wandering, seasonal change, and a sense of belonging.

Garden design, consultation, installation, and maintenance are available, along with ongoing care for established gardens, whether or not we originally designed them.
